Surprise! Weekend Giveaway: Fat Quarterly

>> Thursday, April 22, 2010

Have you guys all heard the buzz swirling around the new sewing eZine that's debuting next week? The Fat Quarterly is launching next week and is an e-magazine written by modern sewists for modern sewist.

Each quarterly issue is going to be packed with: patterns, tutorials, challenges, interviews, previews of upcoming sewing lines and more. Are you super excited yet? You should be!

Look at the talented list of people involved in creating the eZine:

Tacha @ Hanies
Katy @ I'm a Ginger Monkey
John @ Quilt Dad
Kate @ One Flew Over ...
Brioni @ Flossyblossy
Aneela @ Comfortstitching

Also, as a Virtual Quilting Bee tie-in ... do you see what all 6 of these people have in common? Yup - they're all in at least one (some lots more than one!) Virtual Quilting Bee! See what a great community this is?

A Giveaway! Fat Quarterly has generously donated a copy of their first issue to us so one of YOU will be the first to see it & all it's goodness. It doesn't come out until Tuesday the 27th, but just comment ONCE on this entry for a chance to win a copy that will be emailed to you on Monday the 26th. That's it. If you want to tell me what you're sewing or what the weather is like where you live right now (rainy and cold here ... grrrr!) you can do that, too! Contest will only be open until Monday the 26th at 10:00am (MST) - so you've got to be quick.

If you don't win, don't worry, you can purchase a copy of the eZine that will be emailed to you on Tuesday. From the sneak peeks that have been posted already in their Flickr group I guarantee you're not going to want to miss out on this!

I am kind of disappointed that we will have rain all day on Earth Day, but it is a gentle reminder of how the earth works so well.

As for sewing I have a million projects going, but just realized my only niece's 1st bday is in a week, so I must finish her stuffed bunny and doll quilt.

Janet April 22, 2010 at 7:30 PM

We are having the earliest spring. Snow is usually here until at least the beginning of May but it's almost gone and the puddles of water are even dry. It's 6:30 p.m. and I'm sitting on the couch in glorious full sun. My cucumbers and zuchini plants have buds. What am I going to do - it's much too early to put them in the greenhouse? Love to win the magazine, btw.

What is an Ostomy April 22, 2010 at 8:39 PM

Hola from lovely and cool upstate New York. I'm sewing slouch bags from Akiko Mano's book, Linen, Wood, Cotton. For those who have the book and have not tried it, go online and get the errata information before cutting and sewing. There are a few mistakes in the pattern. With corrections, though, it is easy, unusual, comfortable, and numbers of other positive adjectives.

Yea, Fat Quarterly! Can't wait for that first issue!

Recently joining an online quilt bee has really expanded my horizons on the quilting world. I've been wondering why magazine publishers are not getting it? That the same tired old quilting mag format isn't cutting it any more! Can't wait to see this new ezine! Mary
